Experience

Ian Jones is a founding Director of QMI Scotland Limited having established the Aberdeen operation in 1991. Coming from a Mechanical Engineering background in Design Engineering and Project Management he has extensive experience of management systems in manufacturing and project engineering and was involved in many of the early BS 5750 and ISO 9000 approvals of the late 80's. Ian is based in our Aberdeen offices and has undertaken many hundreds of successful consultancy assignments in Aberdeen and the North of Scotland over the past ten years.

Ian is an accomplished trainer and speaker on Quality Management Systems and has lectured extensively in the UK and internationally since 1991. He is an experienced Third Party Certification Auditor and IRCA Registered Lead Auditor, a Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance and a Registered Senior Consultant listed on the IQA Management Consultants Register.

Career Experience

On completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, Ian spent several years involved in marine maintenance and repair work before moving into the field of engineering design and development. He then spent 5 years involved in the design of special purpose production tooling and equipment for a domestic heating manufacturer followed by a further 8 years as a Project Engineer for the British Aluminium Company. Ian then moved into the oil and gas industry in 1982 working initially as a Project Engineer, and subsequently Quality Manager, for a large engineering service company. Ian moved into consultancy in 1986 since which time he has been involved in a wide range of quality management consultancy projects as well as the development and presentation of training courses and seminars on a worldwide basis.
