We are delighted to announce that we have signed the agreement for the Management Systems Audit commission with Transport Scotland and the Scottish Executive for all major transport related projects over the next 5 years. http://publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/search/show/search_view/aspx?ID=MAY092229
This includes all transport related government projects in Scotland including railways, airports and major trunk road projects including the new Forth Crossing.
We have won this contract in competition with long established third party certifcation bodies with excellent reputations in their field.
QMI Scotland Limited have been involved in projects of this nature over the last twenty years working on such projects as the st James Interchange, at Glasgow Airport, the Friarton Bridge Perth, the A830 Arisaig to Loch Nan Uamh upgrade and the M74.
The completion of the A830 scheme was the final section in a series of improvements on the A830 trunk road, bringing the entire route up to the 2 lane standard. It brings significant improvements in safety, traffic flow and journey times resulting in better links with Mallaig's ferry connections to Skye.
The M74 is part of the regeneration of the West of Scotland, with the scheme unlocking enormous potential for further urban regeneration programmes in the west. It will provide improved access to economic, employment and education opportunites for the people of Scotland.
What does our work involve? We usually start at the bidding stage, reviewing bidders' Quality Plans, through the design stage, ensuring the design companies are complying with Quality Assurance, Environmental and Health and Safety requirements, then we move on the the actual build again monitoring that the requirements are known and met and will continue on to the maintenance period of the road after completion, usually a period of 2 years.
It is interesting work, and there are many rules and regulations that the average commuter using the finished road would never be aware of, so we need to keep up to date on all such matters and ensure close compliance at all stages.
